FAQ
Answers to frequently asked questions about classic car restoration and finding the right shop to trust with your prized classic car!
Q: What types of Restoration Services does CCG Offer?
Not all classic cars need a full restoration to be enjoyed. The most common services in this category include carburetor rebuilds, engine tune ups, gasket replacements, suspension bushings, and spring/shock replacements.
Sometimes the maintenance needed can be more involved if the engine or transmission needs internal work or if the wiring harnesses need to be replaced.
This type of restoration means that the vehicle is restored to the same style and mechanical standard as it was from the factory. Although we strive to restore to a higher standard of cosmetic quality than the factory would have done.
The term Resto Mod most often refers to a classic car that maintains the appearance of a stock car, but the areas of performance have been improved.
Typically, the drum brakes are upgraded to disc brakes, the suspension is upgraded to something more suitable for performance (i.e. double wishbone front suspension and 4 link rear suspension with coil overs), and the power train is upgraded for reliability and performance.
This type of Custom Build is tailored specifically to the driver. Everything from mild to extreme drivetrains are installed. These builds have numerous custom fabricated and machined parts. Extensive body work is quite common and a custom interior to suit.
Q: Does CCG Offer Free Consultation?
Of course we do!
We welcome anyone to come to our shop (at 904 Pennsylvania St, South Houston, TX 77587) and bring their car to discuss any potential work to be done!
Q: What vehicles does CCG specialize in?
We specialize in vintage and classic vehicles. Exact years may vary, but this typically means pre-1978 Ford, Lincoln, Dodge, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Nash, Triumph, Datsun, Honda, Toyota, BMW, Mercedes, and many more!
Q: Does CCG Offer Estimates for their Restoration and Custom Services?
The short answer is: Yes!
We understand that not everyone is ready to write a blank check and build the car of their dreams. For this reason, when we get an inquiry for restoration work, we ask as many questions as we can and ask for detailed pictures of the project. This helps us to build a better understanding of the starting condition of the project and form an idea of what it will take to get the project done. From there, we will build out an ESTIMATE of the work to be completed for the potential client to approve. Once it’s approved, we can bring the project in and get to work!
HOWEVER, while we do try to estimate as best as we can, there are some services that simply cannot be estimated because there are far too many variables than we can possibly account for.
Q: How does CCG handle their Billing and Project Documentation?
We bill at regular intervals. Typically, twice per month as the project progresses. The invoices include detailed labor summaries, labor records, and are typically paired with photo/video (YouTube) documentation of the project.
We do not require any money down to begin the project. This is because we bill as the work gets completed. However, the cost of the parts needed to start the project will need to be paid before we can begin.
Hopefully this FAQ section has provided some insight as to how we operate at Cars and Coffee Garage.
